Your Home Doesn’t Have To Be Perfect For The Holidays
The holiday season is in full swing! Want to hear a secret? I still haven’t finished decorating. And… I don’t know if I will! Life is busy. Sometimes the holidays sneak up on us and we don’t have enough time to clean, let alone set up elaborate decorations. And you know what? That’s okay!
That is why I’m here to remind you, your house does not need to be perfect to celebrate the holidays. Right now your social media feeds are flooded with the perfect decorations, inside AND outside, the biggest Christmas trees, and the most beautiful wrapped presents. To top it all off, they’ll be spotless with no trace that a family of six lives there. In all honesty, these homes look like Pinterest threw up on them. Do not let this idea of having a “perfect” home get in the way of you celebrating the holidays.
Let’s take a step back and reflect on the point of celebrating holidays. To spend quality time with family, friends, and loved ones. To enjoy each other's company over food and drinks. To share laughter, gratitude and joy. That is what this time of year is all about! Not having the biggest tree with the most ornaments on it, not having a spotless kitchen with no trace of use, and certainly not having a living room that doesn't appear to be lived in. For all I care, your home could look like the Grinch tore through it and you can still have a perfect holiday season.
I went to my sister’s for Thanksgiving and her table was set up beautifully and welcoming. But guess what? The silverware didn’t match! The glasses weren’t uniform! She used what she had on hand and you know what? No one cared, or even noticed. And she used her nice stuff. If you’re saving the fancy China or crystal glasses for a special occasion, it’s time to break them out! You and your guests deserve to use nice things. Trust me, you’ll be happy you treated yourself.
So, let’s be honest. Your house may never look like the influencers online. It may be a little cluttered, or you may not have had time to set up all the decorations this year. But, your home will be full of family, friends and oh so much food. That’s all that matters!!
Remember, what matters is WHO is in your home this year, not WHAT. Focus on filling your home with love, not stuff!
