If You’re Not Using It, It’s Clutter

One of the biggest hurdles in decluttering is getting rid of the things that you think you spent too much money on to let go. Maybe you spent a small fortune on a designer jacket that you've never been able to fit into, or maybe you bought all the supplies for a craft project that you never started (and possibly never will). We get so wrapped around the axles thinking that we can't get rid of something because we paid good money for it. However, if these things are taking space up in your house, never to be used, you are continuously paying for it!

What is your space worth to you? What about your mental health? Your time? If something is sitting in your home unused, you're still wasting it. I want to tell you that these "wasted" items do not define you. If you bought something and didn't use it, it doesn't mean that you are a bad person who makes poor decisions! Think about buying an item as buying the option of that item. If the time never comes for you to use it, that is okay! Let yourself breathe, let it go, and have the stuff move on to someone who will put it to use.

Remember, it doesn't matter what you paid for it. If you don't use it, it's clutter. Realize that purchasing something that you do not use does not mean you make bad choices. Let the stuff go to someone who will use it.
